A Message from our CTO and CISO

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CTO and CISO, CHASE DOMBROWSKI

The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) monitors and reports on breaches of over 500 affected individuals, per 13402(e)(4) of the HITECH Act. These incidents are posted on their website.

It is interesting to see who is violating the rules and the costs associated with those violations.

The compliance auditing of healthcare providers are increasing since the creation of the Omnibus Rule in 2013. As an owner, program director, practice manager or compliance officer, you want to be compliant. This means actively mitigating risk in all scenarios where electronic health information is possibly exchanged. Following best practices, will help in case you are (or when you are) audited by Human Health Service agencies.

If the smartphone is a tool that is being used at your organization and you want to learn more about potential solutions to shore up the smartphone vulnerabilities, give us a call and we can explain the flows, features and security protocols to look out for when managing personal devices at the workplace.

Sincerely,

Chase and the MEDX security team
